Need to study up on my architecture
Maybe that would help me understand why
Old victorians remind me of you
Need to study up on my horticulture
Maybe that would help me understand why
Peak fall maples remind me of you
But do I need to go to all that trouble?
I'd give up half way through
To find I'm lonesome again
For my Brooklyn College friend
On cold fall days like today we used to walk for miles
Need to freshen up on my metaphysics
Maybe that would help me put to rest
This hope to one day travel back in time
Need to read a couple literary critics
Maybe that would help me shed a light on
Weak spots in this memory of mine
But I don't need to go to all that trouble
My argument is fine
I'm just lonesome again
For my Brooklyn College friend
On cold fall days like today we used to walk for miles
Shame to hear these footsteps fall
unaccompanied by the crazy melodies of her laughter
Shame to find her ditching out
On the only class I cared about
Our walk home together after
Through the park
Lamp lights glowing gold
Through the dark
Will they ever dim in this heart?
Why did I drop my class in forensics?
Maybe if I stuck around I'd know how to
Retrace my steps and see where it fell apart
But do I need to go to all that trouble
For one little broken heart?
I'm just lonesome again
For my Brooklyn College friend
On cold fall days like today we used to walk for miles
